General Information:
Hygiene center. Hours: Mondays through Fridays 8am - 12 noon. The ICS Hygiene Center, located in the gymnasium of Immanuel Lutheran Church, provides the opportunity for homeless men and women to wash their clothes, take a shower, and spend the morning in a warm, safe, and clean environment. The Center is open weekdays from 8:00 am to noon. Each weekday morning our industrial washer, dryer, and hot water heater are put to use, washing clothes and offering showers for 20 to 40 people. Once a week, we offer the option to wash larger items, including blankets and sleeping bags. Our Hygiene guests are given toiletries, such as razors, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes and soap. These essential services allow homeless individuals to participate in work, job search, and community activities with dignity. Community Lunch Program: Last Sunday of every month. Visit our website or call for details. Recovery Program Our Recovery Program and Shelter of Immanuel Community Services provides a safe, supportive, clean, and sober living environment for adult men who are working to overcome addiction to drugs and/or alcohol. Up to 14 men at a time, many who are homeless as a result of their addictions, are invited to stay with us as long as they remain clean and sober. We have a long-standing partnership with The Matt Talbot Center where most of the men attend a daytime treatment program. In the evenings and on weekends, ICS is their home. We offer a warm and emotionally supportive environment so the men can focus on their recovery. The men share in the responsibility of communal living, including cooking, cleaning, and providing building security. The food is plentiful, a locker is provided for their belongings, and they have free access to showers and laundry facilities. At night, they sleep on a mat on the gymnasium floor. The men also participate in meetings and discuss important topics to help in their recovery process including anger management, conflict resolution, hygiene, and effective communication. The success of the ICS Recovery Program is attributable to the hard work the men put into their own recovery. Members of the congregation of Immanuel Lutheran Church have many opportunities to share meals and get to know the men living here. Everyone is welcome to stay with us for up to a year if needed in order to complete their program and move into permanent housing. This program can offer opportunities for the men to make dramatic and permanent changes in their lives.
