General Information:
homeless and runaway shelter for teen boys aged 12-17. The 24 hour hotline number is (928) 235-5549 for immediate assistance in Kingman.  The main focus of Harbor House is to address the needs of runaway and homeless youth and their families in Kingman and its surrounding rural communities. The program is built on the principles of positive youth development, emphasizing the strength of each individual and family unit served. Harbor House offers temporary shelter for up to 21 days to30 runaway and homeless male youth each year. The center currently has four (4) beds available for emergency shelter. Harbor House also reaches youth through several outreach activities throughout the year. In addition to safe temporary shelter, Harbor House hosts weekly youth sessions focusing on life skills and character development utilizing two curriculums: Botvin’s Life Skills and Choosing the Best. “Harbor House provides a safe environment for youth to regroup and chart a new course in their life. Our goal is to place them in a safe, stable living environment,” explains Kelly Tanner, Program Director of Harbor House. Many young adults in Kingman struggle with not only peer pressure, but the effects of increased family conflict, domestic violence and alcohol/substance abuse. Harbor House works with youth and their caregivers to create an individualized life plan to either reunite youth with their families or another trusted adult. Components of the plan may include personal goals, counseling, job skills, drug and alcohol education and academics.
