Class of Housing/Services: short term shelter

General Information:
provides an interim solution for families who find themselves facing homelessness in Cabarrus and southern Rowan Counties. My Father's House is a short-term program designed for a stay of 60-90 days, during which families have access to:     overnight accommodations (one family per room)     showers     laundry     nursery     computers     kitchen facilities Extensions may be granted for families who are progressing in their case plan and are awaiting developments that contribute to their solution. There is no cost to the family for these services. My Father's House is a ministry partnership between Cooperative Christian Ministry and local churches. Volunteers from area congregations provide meals and overnight staffing, while CCM provides case management to assist in housing, employment, mental health and other identified needs. Aftercare support to former guests with continued advocacy, education, referrals and other interventions may also be available as the Case Manager deems appropriate for each family's specific needs. Eligibility Criteria for My Father's House (MFH)     Applicant must be a family unit (at least one adult with at least one minor child and no children over 17 years old).     Applicant must be considered homeless by HUD definition and reside in Cabarrus County or Southern Rowan County for thirty days (ID must reflect this).     Applicant must be employed or employable (and willing/able to seek employment).     Applicant must be free from active substance abuse (including alcohol) and be willing to submit to a drug-screen and/or Breathalyzer.     Applicant must be willing to submit to a criminal background check (no sex offenders or applicants with violent criminal histories accepted).     Total household income must be less than 80% of AMI (verified by last 30 days of pay stubs).     Applicants must be willing to provide proof of income earned and money saved while in MFH.     Applicant must be willing to participate in Life Skills courses/other program activities as a part of MFH.     Applicant must complete a telephone screening process with MFH intake personnel.     After telephone screening qualified applicants will be contacted by MFH intake personnel for a comprehensive in-person assessment.
