Class of Housing/Services: emergency temporary safe shelter for battered women and their children.

General Information:
Provides emergency temporary safe shelter for battered women and their children. Professional services available, with support for women needing to make difficult decisions. Transportation can most often be arranged to the shelter if necessary. Member of the Alabama Coalition against Domestic Violence (ACADV). Penelope House is a 24 hour Crisis Service for 365 days a year for Victims of Domestic Violence. Hours Of Operation: 24 Hour Crisis Service Office 251-342-8994 Emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children is available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.  Victims who are admitted for shelter care are provided a safe place to stay while assessing their life situation and setting goals for the future.  Shelter services include food, clothing, counseling, court advocate services, vocational counseling, child care, and support groups.  Transportation is provided as needed.  An on-site medical clinic provides shelter residents with medical care at no cost.   URGENT NEEDS     Back Packs     Towels/wash clothes     Pillows/pillow cases     Twin sheet sets     Cleaning supplies (lysol, scrubbing bubbles, etc.)     Air freshener     Diapers, pull-ups, wipes     Hand sanitizer
