Class of Housing/Services: Halfway House, Substance Abuse Treatment

General Information:
Provides a halfway house and substance abuse treatment for men. Good Friends, Inc. is a community-based, licensed residential treatment program for the recovering adult male alcoholic/drug addict, including those with a co-occurring psychiatric disorder; a facility in which the resident seeks to re-establish himself into the mainstream of society. It is our mission to provide comprehensive and quality behavioral health and related services in the continuum of care for chemically dependent adult males. To be considered for admission, one must: Be male Be alcohol and/or drug dependent; Be 18 years of age or older; Meet the criteria of the Pennsylvania's Client Placement Criteria (PCPC); Be willing to participate in our treatment program. We generally admit men who have had previous treatment but have failed to maintain sobriety. The Good Friends, Inc. treatment program enables our admitted client to expand their addiction knowledge while working on creating and solidifying the support systems necessary to achieve and maintain a solid recovery network. We maintain a 25-bed capacity.

Halfway Housing helps transition individuals and families from shelters or homelessness to permanent housing. Length of stay is usually anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.  Residents are often required to pay at least 30% of their income toward program fees.  Sometimes the money they pay in fees is returned to them when they leave.
