Community Hope's mission: Creating a brighter future for individuals recovering from mental illness and substance abuse by providing housing and services in a dignified, respectful, and person-centered way. Community Hope, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded in 1985 by caring families of young adults whose lives were impacted by depression, schizophrenia and other mental illnesses. Today, Community Hope's residential programs help more than 300 individuals a day in recovery from mental illness and addiction. We restore hope to homeless veterans, aging-out youth and adults who can reach their potential with our support and encouragement. Our programs, including Hope for Veterans®, have won national and statewide acclaim as models to be replicated. Hope for Veterans® is a 95-bed transitional housing program located on the Lyons VA campus, which has received national acclaim for succeeding in helping more than 430 veterans who had fallen upon hard times. The goal of Hope for Veterans® is to provide a safe, supportive environment where veterans can sustain their recovery and start on the path to rebuild their lives. Helpful Definitions For Community Hope Parsippany:
Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.

Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.
