General Information:
Bethany House Services (BHS) provides housing, education and assistance to homeless families in the Greater Cincinnati area, including Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana. Holistic services – including emergency shelter, housing,  comprehensive case management, post shelter support,   and permanent affordable rental housing – address a family’s current needs and seek to prevent repeat episodes of homelessness. The shelter provides a safe, accessible offsite location.  A supervised, therapeutic environment, nutritious meals, transportation assistance and enrichment programs coupled with professional case management, access to physical and mental health resources, a housing specialist and life skills programming add up to successful outcomes for 85% of our families.  Housing, counseling and jobs program referrals take place. Success means that guests leaving the shelter have secured housing and income. Last year our emergency shelter served 33,440 healthy meals and snacks. Rapid Re-housing The Rapid Re-Housing is a federally funded program which was awarded to Bethany House Services. This program is designed to rapidly house homeless families who are staying the Family Emergency Shelters in Cincinnati, who are assessed as being "moderately" difficult to serve.   The program's goal is to get them out of shelter and into housing in a short time frame. The case managers will then follow the clients in their housing to provide long-term services, which will make them stable.   Bethany Place Transitional Housing for Singles Provides a unique, individualized housing experience for formerly homeless women whose vulnerability makes them high-risk for failure.  Comprehensive case management, individual and group counseling, and life skills sessions shared in a supportive home-like environment creates a synergy for success.  As they worked toward independence, employment and housing, six women learned to build supportive networks in their personal lives and on the job during 2010. 91% of the program participants were successful.

Helpful Definitions For Bethany House Services - Cincinnati:
Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.

Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.
