General Information:
16 Bed Emergency Homeless Shelter The Chicago Avenue Mission is a 16- bed emergency homeless shelter whose mission is to give homeless adult men and women a safe and warm place to stay. Our goal is to help all of our homeless guests attain the skills, tools, and resources they need to become permanently housed once again. The Mission is open daily from October 1st through May 31st each year. The Mission is open from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. nightly. An evening meal is served at 6:30 p.m. and breakfast is available every morning. The Mission is equipped with shower and laundry services for our guests. Mission guests also have access to support services such as case management, life skills training, and employment recovery. The Mission also partners with several other providers in the Freeport area to help its guests deal with physical and developmental disabilities, mental illness, and alcohol and substance abuse issues.
