General Information:
The emergency shelter services at Grace House provides temporary shelter to those in immediate need. The emergency shelter stay is 90 days. Grace House has 31 emergency shelter beds available for men. In addition to addressing clients' shelter needs, Grace House offers case management and supportive services to address clients' medical, mental health, and employment needs in order to help them permanently end their homelessness. THE PRISON REENTRY PROGRAM The prison reentry program provides shelter and services to previously incarcerated individuals in order to assist with a successful transition to their community after they are released. Clients in the prison re-entry program receive the same supportive services as those enrolled in Grace House's 90 day emergency services program. Upon completing the prison reentry program, the client has the option of transitioning into the standard Grace House program for an additional 90 days of support, if bed space is available. BEYOND GRACE Beyond Grace provides transitional housing support for those who have completed the 90 day emergency services program at Grace House. By providing an additional two years of transitional housing and supportive services, Beyond Grace gives clients additional time to save for a more stable future and increases their chances of success when they leave Union Mission.

Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.

Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Read the descriptions of each of the transitional living locations for more detailed information. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.
