Homeless Prevention - Federal Homeless Prevention & Rapid Re-Housing (HPRP) Program

The primary focus of ShelterListings.org is to work towards preventing homelessness. This is in line with the Federal Homeless Prevention & Rapid Re-Housing (HPRP) Program that is in place to help families stay in their homes. Each month thousands of families visit area homeless coalitions in need of resources to stop eviction and/or utility disconnection.

The Federal Homeless Prevention & Rapid Re-Housing (HPRP) Program awards funding from the Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) to area homeless coalitions.

The funds are used to provide rent, security deposit, and utility assistance for those who are at risk of becoming homeless (one-time payments and multi-month commitments.)

In addition, homeless coalitions offer Case Management Services to connect clients with other agencies that can help to relieve their burden. This includes Veteran's Services, Child Care Assistance, Substance Abuse Counseling, Financial Counseling, Medical or Prescription Assistance, as well as others.

ShelterListings.org provides area homeless coalitions and other resources by city to prevent homelessness.
