Class of Housing/Services: rent based transitional housing. Not free. Call for rates.

General Information:
AASAC is a rent based transitional housing program for Veterans, Men, Women, wheelchair bound and individuals from the Re- entry rehabilitation program. The facility serves adults only in Rockdale, DeKalb, Decatur, Newton, Fulton and Clayton counties. All other counties by availability. The facility is 4 units - 9 bedrooms per unit.(double occupancy- two people per shared room with a small refrigerator per room), storage and closets, 4 showers/bath combo per unit, free laundry, hygiene products, and clothing. Each unit have two common areas with small microwave, TV and computer stations for job search and emails. Three (3) meals per day are provided. community service projects, employment assistance and education services. Referrals will be provided to residents (case by case) for programs such as substance abuse, mental health, VA Services, HIV services, etc. Transportation to facility is provided by metro transportation system.

Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.

Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Read the descriptions of each of the transitional living locations for more detailed information. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.Drug And Alcohol Rehab programs are intended to treat alcohol and/or drug dependency.  The cost of participating in one of these programs and the method of treatment range significantly. We also provide Access to Recovery (ATR) Grant programs for substance abuse treatment.
