Class of Housing/Services: Overnight men's emergency shelter and social detox program

General Information:
The Healing Place is a 214-bed residential recovery facility. It was brought to Richmond in 2005 when the Richmond Task Force on Homelessness identified a major need for addiction recovery resources for homeless men in Richmond. Similar programs exist in Louisville, KY, Raleigh, NC and Huntington, WV. The Task Force chose the Healing Place model based on:       Tremendous Sobriety Outcomes     Cost Effectiveness     Ability to return tax-paying citizens to society.   The Healing Place provides a pathway to recovery for men struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. Our long-term, nationally recognized program is a place where hope is found and change happens. Our goal is to reach the most vulnerable members of our community, to provide a pathway to recovery, and to restore their dignity and place in society.   We make it easy for people to get the help that they need when they are ready. Clients can enter our overnight shelter and Sobering Up Center while still intoxicated. In addition, we are the only long-term recovery program in Virginia that provides services regardless of a client’s financial situation. This means people with major addiction problems and no resources can get the help that they need instead of being on the street or incarcerated.

As A General Note About ShelterListings.org Listings:
ShelterListings.org does our best to provide listings that are free of cost. Many of the homeless shelters and services are free of charge. Some do charge small fees. We always urge the users of our website to visit the websites of the providers listed, OR give them a phone call to find out complete details.

In furtherance; Halfway Houses, Transitional Housing, and Substance Abuse Treatment Centers for the most part charge a fee. Most of the substance abuse resources we provide are low cost, Medicaid or sliding scale fee. We provide as much information as possible on the website of these locations.

Rooming and Boarding Houses do charge fees. We list them where we find them. They are a nice low cost option for housing.
