Class of Housing/Services: Transitional Shelter for women with and without children

General Information:
The Contact Ministries Transitional Shelter for women with children provides immediate relief to women with children. In addition, we provide life’s basic needs – food, clothing, personal care items, laundry facilities, transportation, and telephones to make appointments. Supportive services provided include employment assistance, budgeting, family literacy, parenting classes, tutoring, and case management with a goal of finding and maintaining permanent housing. Referrals are made for daycare, treatment centers, adult education, and other mainstream resources. We also work with District 186 to make sure that school-age children are attending classes. The Transitional Shelter is open 7 days a week, 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year. The Contact Ministries Emergency Shelter for single women and women with children of any age is a short term shelter that provides a safe haven for those who are homeless or experiencing a housing crisis. Residents are provided with a safe place to sleep, dinner and a place to take a shower and do their laundry. They are encouraged to come to the walk-in area of Contact Ministries and meet with our Director of Services to help access services and determine long-term plans.  The Emergency Shelter is open 7 days a week at 5:00pm, 365 days a year.

As A General Note About ShelterListings.org Listings:
ShelterListings.org does our best to provide listings that are free of cost. Many of the homeless shelters and services are free of charge. Some do charge small fees. We always urge the users of our website to visit the websites of the providers listed, OR give them a phone call to find out complete details.

In furtherance; Halfway Houses, Transitional Housing, and Substance Abuse Treatment Centers for the most part charge a fee. Most of the substance abuse resources we provide are low cost, Medicaid or sliding scale fee. We provide as much information as possible on the website of these locations.

Rooming and Boarding Houses do charge fees. We list them where we find them. They are a nice low cost option for housing.
