Class of Housing/Services: Shelter for men and women.

General Information:
The Salvation Army program addresses the temporary housing needs of transient, chronically and newly homeless, at-risk homeless individuals, men, women, children and families in Greenville County. Our facility provides a clean, safe, comfortable environment that offers three meals per day, clothing and referrals to any other help agencies based upon each individual assessment. These critical community services greatly enhance an individual's or family's ability to once again become financially stable. They are sheltered from the streets and are provided a warm, safe and dry shelter.  Residents are provided three meals per day and personal hygiene items. In addition to this, individuals that pass through our shelters receive a wide range of services in order to work towards a stable residence.  Individuals are made aware of education and employment opportunities available to them through fellow United Way Partner Agencies. The Salvation Army's homeless shelters provide more than just a good night's sleep for homeless men and women. They provide the tools necessary to move men and women from homelessness to self-sufficiency. The Women's and Children's Refuge houses up to 36 women and children who are homeless or battered.  They are given clothing, meals, guidance and compassion.  If necessary, they may be referred to other community resources for long term solutions.  The Men's Refuge offers 60 beds to those who need a place to lay their head.  The men in our shelter are encouraged to work toward accountability and ownership of their life.  The shelter programs network with other agencies to assist the men in improving their employment and life skills situation.  Additionally, the men have several opportunities throughout the week for worship services. The Emergency Homeless Shelters (Refuges) are located at 417 Rutherford Street, Greenville, SC, 29609.  For more information please call 864-235-4803.
