24-Hour Crisis Line: 1-219-931-2090 Haven House, Inc., founded in 1983 and located in Hammond, Indiana is a 24-hour emergency shelter for domestic violence victims and their dependents. Haven House provides services to Hammond, East Chicago, Whiting, Munster, Griffith, and Highland, which comprises a significant geographic area of Northwest Indiana. Haven House NWI provides emergency shelter and support services for domestic violence survivors and their children in Northwest Indiana and surrounding areas. All services are FREE of charge to the survivor and their children.   Service list 24-hour hot line, 365 days a year, in which all crisis calls will be documented - 219.931.2090 Crisis admissions and temporary shelter 24-hours a day, 365 days a year Crisis intervention Information and referral Bilingual Services Immigration information Counseling services for residential and non-residential clients Support group services for residential and non-residential clients Rape recovery support for residential and non-residential rape victims, which are run primarily with volunteer rape advocates Community education and awareness Advocacy services for residential and non-residential rape victims Drug education and referral services for residential and non-residential clients Free clothing for clients and their children Free meals for residential clients and their children, with no requirement for clients to use their food stamps for the program Emergency transportation to the shelter for admission for residents of Lake County Transportation needed to accomplish service plan goals, ie..housing during residency Court advocacy services, ie…protective orders, restraining orders Employment resource service Parent/Child resource center
