General Information:
Office hours: Mondays through Fridays 8am to 4pm. Weekends by appointment.   Family Promise of York County is a shelter program for families.  We do not have programs for single men or single women.  In order to enter our program, all adult family members (including children 18 and over) must complete an assessment with program staff.  To schedule an assessment, please contact us at (803) 329-2456 or complete the form below.   Family Promise of York County (FPYC) is a local not-for-profit organization that provides a comprehensive program of meals, shelter, support services, and life skills training for homeless parents and children through coordination with area churches, social service agencies, and volunteers. Our vision is that parents and children leave our program better equipped to meet life’s challenges. Our goal is that homeless families resume and maintain self-sufficiency and independence in permanent housing. We have partnerships with local churches who provide shelter and meals for up to four families or 14 people. Family Promise staff provide counseling and life skills training. The guests at Family Promise are like any other family, except that they are experiencing severe economic hardships. Usually, one or both parents are employed or have recently lost a job. Families have been living day-to-day until some event worsens their situation. Soon, parents and children find themselves without a place to live. Guests must be: - a family - parent(s) with children, married couples, pregnant women - alcohol and drug free - psychologically healthy - able and willing to work - ready to achieve stable, long-term housing
