General Information:
Client-Services Hours: M, T, W, F: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm Th: 11:00 am – 5:30 pm. Provides an immediate response to basic human needs and promote pathways to self-sufficiency. The Action Center's mission is to provide an immediate response to basic human needs and promote pathways to self-sufficiency. Since 1968, the Action Center has been providing essential stabilizing services to the poor, working poor and homeless of Jefferson County, Colorado. Our intake center serves over 160 people a day with a variety of immediate need/dire straights circumstances as well as providing long-range housing and employment planning advice. Services include: FOOD PANTRY: families or individuals can receive a 5-day supply of food a maximum of 6 times per day. HOMELESS SHELTER: Our home-style, private room per family shelter houses up to 22 people per night and residents may stay up to 45 days. During that time, residents must complete a comprehensive strategic plan that leads to self-sufficiency and upon completion of this plan, they are eligible to receive housing/rental assistance. MEDICAL SERVICES: Our Estes Street Community Clinic, in partnership with Lutheran Medical Center and Metro Community Provider Network, serves the homeless and uninsured. CLOTHING BACK: Individuals may receive up to 15 articles of clothing per month and families up to 60 articles at no charge. UTILITY ASSISTANCE: We assist people in emergency situations by helping pay the balances on their energy bills.

Emergency Homeless Shelters both provide short term relief for the homeless and low income persons. Usually there is a maximum stay of 3 months or less. Many of these shelters ask their clients to leave during the day. Meals and other supportive services are often offered. 3 times out of 5 these shelters offer their services free of charge.

As A General Note About Listings: does our best to provide listings that are free of cost. Many of the homeless shelters and services are free of charge. Some do charge small fees. We always urge the users of our website to visit the websites of the providers listed, OR give them a phone call to find out complete details.

In furtherance; Halfway Houses, Transitional Housing, and Substance Abuse Treatment Centers for the most part charge a fee. Most of the substance abuse resources we provide are low cost, Medicaid or sliding scale fee. We provide as much information as possible on the website of these locations.

Rooming and Boarding Houses do charge fees. We list them where we find them. They are a nice low cost option for housing.
