General Information:
ADA, the Alcohol/Drug Abuse Women's Center, provides Texas Department of State Health Services licensed intensive and transitional treatment for indigent women in Galveston and Brazoria Counties in coastal Texas. This is a residential program consisting of two levels of care. During intensive treatment, the client will participate in 30 hours of group each week, attend daily 12-Step meetings and meet individually with her counselor for one hour each weekto address her specific treatment plan. The typical daily schedule is from 6:30 AM to 10:00 PM.  Chores are assigned weekly and rotate from client to client.  This phase of treatment can last from 14-45 days. Transitional treatment is offered to women who have successfully completed the intensive phase, who plan to reside in Galveston, and who are ready and able to become employed.  Treatment consists of 7 hours of group treatment each week, daily attendance at 12-Step meetings and one hour of individual counseling each month to address and update the client's treatment plan.  This phase of treatment can last from 30-90 days. Occupational therapy is offered to clients during both intensive and supportive levels of treatment. Occupational therapy seeks to provide clients with artistic, creative therapy, as well as, life skills.  Specific training is offered in budgeting, anger management, conflict resolution, grief and loss, workplace issues and calendar/time management.
