Class of Housing/Services: Transitional housing, supportive housing for single adults and families.

General Information:
Supportive Housing Program Program Goal: Our goal is to return homeless/recovering women and their children to the economic and social mainstream by providing supportive housing programs and services. Target Population: Homeless/recovering/dually-diagnosed women and their children; those listed by Hennepin County as the “hardest to serve”. Program Summary: Our Supportive Housing Program provides services to a clientele of homeless women and their children as described below. At the time of their acceptance into the program, our residents are in terrible shape with multiple issues including only 90 days of sobriety (a program requirement). Their risk factors create enormous barriers to a productive and rewarding life for themselves and their children. Perspectives’ case managers work with the residents to begin removing barriers from day one. When first accepted into the program our residents move into a completely furnished apartment, which sets Perspectives apart from other supportive housing programs. They then begin to develop with their case manager their program-life plan, which includes: gaining job skills/education, remaining sober, stabilizing their mental health issues and learning positive parenting skills. The following is a typical profile of a woman living in our Supportive Housing Program:     Homeless and a single parent.     Unemployed with limited job skills.     Lacks education and job history.     Receives public assistance.     History with court system.     Dually-diagnosed as both mentally ill and a recovering addict.     Has lost most of her possessions and has several unlawful detainers.     Is a victim of physical and sexual abuse.     Has a childhood history of abuse.     Has a limited support system.     Has extremely limited money management skills.
