Class of Housing/Services: women, transitional housing

General Information:
General Information: Ascension Place provides transitional housing and comprehensive, individualized support to more than 70 women each year. Our house, a former convent building with 32 private bedrooms, offers a safe and structured environment in which women can stabilize, heal and work to overcome their barriers – chemical dependency, mental health issues, histories of abuse, homelessness, incarceration, etc. – and progress toward a future filled with opportunity. Each woman meets regularly with her case manager to develop and work on an individualized goal plan. Twice-weekly mental health and chemical health support groups address topics such as self-esteem, nutrition, relapse triggers, the negative effects of shame, self-care, and healthy stress relief. Our staff nurse monitors medications, helps facilitate resident care with their primary doctor, and hosts health and wellness workshops. In-house and off-site wellness activities are offered to promote stress relief, build community and encourage sober fun.
