General Information:
Emergency Shelter and Transitional housing. A safe, clean environment is provided for year-round emergency shelter to homeless men. St. Vincent HELP Apartments Fully furnished apartments are specifically designed to help men and women, 18 years or older regain their independence with dignity. Resident Empowerment Program - is a structured program designed to provide a residence, case management, employment and supportive services to homeless men to become positive productive members of the Las Vegas valley community.  Catholic Charities provides emergency shelter for men in a safe and clean environment.     Year-Round Nightly Shelter     The night weather shelter is open year round from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. seven days a week. Showers, toiletries, restroom facilities are provided. Clothing is given out when available.     Day Shelter     The Day Shelter can accommodate 130 men at one time. During the day, men come and go, we estimate serving 250-350 clients daily. Showers, toiletries, restroom facilities and cold drinking water are provided. Clothing is given out when available.     Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. seven days a week.     Free Community Meal is provided:     Weekdays 10AM to 11AM     Weekends 11AM to 12PM     Items Needed and given out on a regular basis:     Clothing     Shoes     Socks     Undergarments     Toothbrush and toothpaste     Shampoo     Sunscreen and lotion     Combs     Shower shoes     Bottled water

Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.

Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Read the descriptions of each of the transitional living locations for more detailed information. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.Day Shelters supplement homeless and low-income people when the shelter their staying in only offers shelter on an overnight basis. Case management is often provided and sometimes there are laundry and shower facilities.  Meals and basic hygiene may also be offered.  Almost all day shelters provide their services free of charge. Any emergency or homeless shelter that allows clients to stay during the day is also classified under this category.
