These are long term residential programs and are described below based on the Pennsylvania Client Placement Criteria (PCPC). The Halfway House is a community-based residential treatment and rehabilitation facility that provides services for chemically dependent persons in a supportive chemical-free environment. This setting provides substance abuse treatment (individual and group therapy), emphasizes protective and supportive elements of family living, and encourages and provides opportunities for independent growth and responsible community living. Women with a co-occurring mental health disorder are welcome as long as program participation and the ability to function in a community living environment are possible. Mutual self-help, assistance in economic and social adjustment, integration of life skills into daily life, as well as a solid program of recovery based on the 12 step philosophies are core the program structure. Clients entering the Halfway House must have already had some experience in another type of drug and alcohol treatment setting. Women learn tools for recovery through the relationships the develop with fellow residents, the Twelve-Step Fellowship, the Libertae counseling staff and our network of social resources.
