General Information:
Eligibility: Eligibility varies with services needed Intake Procedure: Call for information Languages Spoken: Some services available in Spanish and Arabic Service Description: CHRISTIAN MINISTRY which provides shelter, food, clothing, counseling, and other emergency services to low-income families and individuals. EMERGENCY SHELTER provides overnight shelter, three meals daily, shower and laundry facilities, case management, and referrals. The Family and Women's Shelter serves single women with or without children, married couples with children, and single fathers with children. The Men's Shelter serves single men. Guests staying longer than thirty days must be actively participating in a self-sufficiency program. Youth programs are offered for children ages 6 weeks and older staying in the shelter with their families. MEALS to anyone staying at the emergency shelters or day shelter, or anyone who just walks in AGAPE CAFE provides free day shelter for men. Services include showers, laundry facilities, lockers, lunch, a place to receive mail, and case management. CURTIS CENTER – transitional single-room-occupancy rental units with supportive services for homeless men. WOMEN’S TRANSITIONAL HOUSING – transitional single-room-occupancy rental units with supportive services for homeless women. Fees may apply for this Transitional Housing resource. Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.

Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.Day Shelters supplement homeless and low-income people when the shelter their staying in only offers shelter on an overnight basis. Case management is often provided and sometimes there are laundry and shower facilities.  Meals and basic hygiene may also be offered.  Almost all day shelters provide their services free of charge. Any emergency or homeless shelter that allows clients to stay during the day is also classified under this category.
