Hudson River Lodging – Gannett House Program Gannett House addresses the basic needs of homeless individuals and families that are placed in emergency housing at Hudson River Lodging, located at 389 Manchester Road in LaGrange. Individuals and families must apply for placement through the Dutchess County Department of Social Services. Gannett House provides meals, transportation, 24-hour security, and other immediate assistance a family or individual may need as they adjust to their temporary living situation. Once immediate needs are addressed, Gannett House Case Managers assist participants in overcoming the issues that led to their homelessness in accessing needed community resources and in working toward their goals, including transitioning to more stable housing. Support Services for Veteran Families 313 Mill Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 Phone: (845) 454-5176 The primary aim of the supportive services available as part of the SSVF Program is to help Veteran families who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness quickly regain stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis and/or homelessness.  Support services include case management, linkage to available resources including VA benefits, housing location, and other housing stabilization services.  In some cases, short-term financial assistance for rent, security, utilities, moving costs, transportation and other emergency needs may be provided as part of a plan to increase the participant’s housing stability.  Additional requirements must be met and eligibility verified, before financial assistance can be provided. Head of household or their spouse must be a Veteran, and gross household income must not exceed 50% of Area Median Income (AMI). All those seeking to participate in the program must undertake a screening. Follow Through Program The Follow Through Program assists homeless families that are temporarily housed at Hudson River Lodging to move to permanent housing and avoid the recurrence of homelessness. Funding is available through the program to assist with security and initial rent, thereby expediting movement from emergency to permanent housing. Follow Through Case Managers work closely with families for a year following their stay in temporary housing, helping them to adjust to the demands of successfully maintaining permanent housing. Limited rent subsidy funds are available when a family experiences a financial emergency that would jeopardize their ability to pay rent and keep their housing. Follow Through Program participants are referred by Gannett House and the Department of Social Services. After-Hours Emergency Placement (AHEP) HRH facilitates emergency placement of adults and families who find themselves homeless due to non-disaster related circumstances and outside of the regular business hours of the Dutchess County Department of Social Services. (The American Red Cross should be contacted at (845) 471-2000 for assistance when homelessness is related to a disaster, such as a fire.) AHEP services can be accessed by calling (845) 471-8454 after 5:00 PM Monday thru Friday and anytime Saturday, Sunday, or holidays when the Department of Social Services is closed.
