The mission of Mariners Inn is to provide 24 hour, residential substance abuse treatment for adult, homeless men of Southeastern Michigan, in a professional, compassionate, therapeutic environment conducive to reducing their problems of drug and alcohol addiction, thereby promoting their return to health, independence, and increased self-worth. Substance abuse treatment, housing, etc.   The Mariners Inn Extended Residency (MER) & Transitional Housing (TH) Programs are alcohol- and drug-free residential environments for homeless men desiring to gain independence. Both programs have the capacity to assist a combined total of 64 adult men with an array of services and special needs. It is the Housing Program’s philosophy to provide the highest level of professional services to all residents to help them overcome the problem of homelessness and related issues. We seek to address all barriers to independent living and provide an environment that encourages all to achieve their fullest potential.

Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.
