Class of Housing/Services: Emergency shelter and Transitional housing.

General Information:
Emergency Shelter The Emergency Shelter is the only emergency shelter in Fauquier County. The facility is a 7,100 square foot building that includes a fully-equipped modern kitchen and dining area, washer and dryer facilities, library and reading room, a group meeting area, office space for staff, family bedrooms, adult male bedrooms and adult female bedrooms. Our 52-bed configuration can accommodate up to eleven families and eight single adults at any one time. The ground level is 100% accessible to persons with physical disabilities. A trained staff oversees shelter operations on a 24 hour, 7 day per week schedule. An on-site case manager helps to formulate and facilitate clients' plans for stable housing after their shelter tenure. In-house comprehensive support programs include budget management, various employment-related programs, life-skills classes, nutritional classes, job search services, parenting classes and children's programs. These programs are augmented by other community programs through collaborations established by the Shelter staff with our partners. Referral services to local, state and federal resources are provided to all residents as appropriate. Vint Hill Transitional Housing Our transitional housing program is an intensive, one year program assisting families in the transition from being homeless to acquiring the skills necessary to maintain stable and independent living. The community provides a structured, safe environment for the nurturing of families, the growth and well-being of children, and a fostering community. To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the requirements listed below:     Verifiable homeless condition     Work a minimum of 35 hours per week     Have children living with you under the age of 18     Own a car that is registered and insured in your name     If applying as a couple, must be married All participants are held accountable for:     maintaining full-time employment     learning budgeting skills, including paying off debt and responsibly managing credit     attending program classes     attending to the well-being of their children Residents pay 30% of their gross income per month. The program provides the utilities.
