Class of Housing/Services: housing and support necessary for homeless persons suffering from addictive and mental disorders

General Information:
The mission of Pathway to Recovery, Inc. is to provide housing and support necessary for homeless persons suffering from addictive and mental disorders to begin the recovery process from addiction and mental illness, achieve financial self-sufficiency via employment or benefits, and begin independent living upon placement in safe affordable substance-free permanent housing. Pathway provides crucial wraparound services to address barriers to long-term independence. Individuals previously caught in the perpetual loop of emergency rooms visits, commitment in psychiatric units, incarceration and stays in missions and shelters, gain mental and emotional stability while maintaining a clean and sober, financially self sufficient, independent lifestyle in their own safe, affordable, substance-free apartment.  Pathway programs exemplify objectives outlined in the Indianapolis Blueprint to End Homelessness in relation to serving special needs populations, low income participants, and individualized levels of housing with essential support services attached. By securing funds to support Pathway-I, we can continue services at the same effective level. Pathway’s programs are financially self-supporting with the exception of Pathway-I. Pathway-I is not financially self-supporting because upon admission, participants simply do not have the means to pay fees. As a result, all of our organization's resources including revenue generated by our expansion programs are used to support the higher operating cost of Pathway-I.

ShelterListings.org does our best to provide listings that are free of cost. Many of the homeless shelters and services are free of charge. Some do charge small fees. We always urge the users of our website to visit the websites of the providers listed, OR give them a phone call to find out complete details.

In furtherance; Halfway Houses, Transitional Housing, and Substance Abuse Treatment Centers for the most part charge a fee. Most of the substance abuse resources we provide are low cost, Medicaid or sliding scale fee. We provide as much information as possible on the website of these locations.

Rooming and Boarding Houses do charge fees. We list them where we find them. They are a nice low cost option for housing.
