Our philosophy focuses on empowering women and children to make healthy decisions that will lead productive lifestyles. The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Inc., (The Bridge) a comprehensive crisis center, assists survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence and those who are homeless due to these circumstances or another crisis. As the only center of its kind in southeast Harris County, Texas, The Bridge annually serves approximately 20,000 people through residential/non-residential services and community outreach and prevention/education programs. Since 1978, our agency has been a bridge to healing and self sufficiency for the communities of Channelview, Deer Park, Galena Park, Houston, Jacinto City, La Porte, Pasadena and South Houston. Housing services: 75-bed emergency shelter For women and children provides basic needs including USDA-approved meals and snacks as well as all counseling services (described below) in a structured, nurturing environment. 41 units of permanent housing For women with a documented disability (mental or physical) and children in their care. The Bridge’s specially designed apartment complex, Destiny Village, houses 29 units and an additional 12 units are located throughout the community. The rent for permanent housing units is subsidized on a sliding scale and includes all services described below. 8 units of transitional housing for single women. These units are located throughout the community and are available for up to two years of subsidized housing.

Helpful Definitions For Bridge Over Troubled Waters Pasadena:
Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.

Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Read the descriptions of each of the transitional living locations for more detailed information. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.
