Class of Housing/Services: Emergency shelter for female victims of family violence, abuse, or incest;

General Information:
Emergency Shelter The Family Place emergency shelter provides counseling and emergency relief services at our Safe Campus for women and children victims of domestic violence. Men needing shelter are housed at a safe location off campus. Services include:     Intensive counseling     Medical and dental care     Psychological evaluation     Day care     K-2 school and after-school programs for children     Job, technical and life skills training for adults     Animal kennel for dogs and cats The Safe Campus provides everything victims and their children need to stay safe and escape from their batterers at one confidential location - all easily and safely accessible. If you are in need of emergency shelter, call the 24-hour Crisis Hotline at 214-941-1991. All Services 24-hour Crisis Hotline : 214-941-1991 offers crisis counseling, information and referrals. Emergency Shelter: provides family violence victims with safety, food, clothing, transportation, legal services, counseling and case management services at our 100-bed Safe Campus. Transitional Housing: provides long-term housing, education and training to help victims rebuild their lives in 25 on-site apartments at the Safe Campus. Child Development Center: provides full-time childcare for clients at the Safe Campus with a curriculum designed for the unique needs of traumatized children. Safe Campus Learning Center: provides K-2 students with an on-site school that keeps them safe and helps them regain developmental delays. Community-based Counseling: offers group and individual counseling and support services in four offices located in Dallas County and at collaborative partner sites. Children’s Counseling: uses play therapy and activity-based programming to help children who have witnessed family violence change the way they look at the world. Be Project: teaches students how to prevent bullying, sexual assault and teen dating violence. Incest Recovery Program: provides counseling for victims of incest. Supervised Child Visitation: provides supervised visitation and monitored exchange to families with a history of family violence. Battering Intervention and Prevention Program (BIPP): provides counseling for abusers working to change their violent behavior. Dignity at Work:  Through career and financial empowerment training, our job-readiness program inspires and equips clients to gain economic independence with dignity. Legal Services: provides on-site attorneys for clients in cooperation with Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas. Helpful Definitions For Family Place Inc Dallas:
Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.

Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.
