Class of Housing/Services: Emergency Homeless Shelter

General Information:
The Emergency Shelter at The Salvation Army helps people in time of crisis to stabilize their lives and then assists them to restore a productive lifestyle. The shelter provides a clean, safe living environment, shower and laundry facilities, and three healthy meals per day. Open 7 days a week, the shelter can accommodate 24 men and 18 women in separate dorm areas. 4 units for households with children are also available. Beds are first come, first serve and cots are used for emergency overflow conditions. Shelter intake is between 6 PM and 10 PM daily. Shelter residents are provided with clean sheets, towels and personal hygiene products. An evening meal is served at 6:30 PM. Following dinner residents can relax or socialize in the common area with television, books, games or conversation. Curfew is at 10:00 PM. Breakfast is served at 6:00 AM and sack lunches are available on request. The shelter closes for the day at 8:00 AM but residents are required to meet with social workers to make progress toward independent living.
