Class of Housing/Services: The only homeless shelter in Sumter County

General Information:
ONLY homeless shelter in Sumter County, and one of the only shelters in central Florida, with the capacity to house unaccompanied adults, both single mothers and single fathers, and intact family units. We offer a comprehensive array of services in order to ensure that when families leave us, they’re ready to transition back into society as productive and independent people. We also operate a mobile unit at the Wildwood truck stop area every Monday afternoon from 11 a.m.–1 p.m.  We hand out sandwiches, nonperishable food items, clothing, jackets, blankets, and personal hygiene items to those living in and around the wooded areas surrounding the truck stop.  We are also able to assist individuals applying for ACCESS benefits, including Medicaid and EST benefits (food stamps).
