Class of Housing/Services: Housing Assistance (Emergency, Transitional, and Permanent)

General Information:
Visit us at the Outreach Center and Business Office Open Mondays 11:00a.m. - 1:00p.m. and Saturdays 9:00a.m. - 12:00p.m. Transitional housing, emergency shelter, case management and other support services provided to homeless families enrolled in the Self-Sufficiency Program. Eligibility: Anyone in need may request clothing and food. Housing applicants must be referred by local social service agencies. Priority is given to homeless families with children, but individuals may apply if vacancy exists. Make an appointment to be seen. LRM provides outreach programs and engages in activities that will cause social change by improving the economic, educational and scial conditions of homeless and other impoverished citizens.  This includes taking them off the streets or out of the shelters, placing them in a Lazarus House, and providing them the services needed to get them back on their feet. Services offered include, but are not limited to the following:   Emergency Donations of Un-cooked Non-perishable Food Clothing Donations Housing Assistance (Emergency, Transitional, and Permanent) Educational Assistance Job Skills Training Job Search Referrals Counseling Family Planning Financial Planning / Budgeting Child Care Assistance Children’s Programs and Activities Home Ownership and Management Training Assistance Obtaining Personal Documents Social Services Resource Referrals   All LRM participants are required to participate in those “Benefit Services” which the LRM Case Management Team deems necessary to facilitate their successful completion of the Self-Sufficiency Housing & Development Program.     POPULATION  SERVED Services are available to homeless families in Gainesville and surrounding areas of Alachua County.  Priority participation is given to homeless families with children; however, other homeless individuals may be served if a vacancy is available.

Helpful Definitions For Lazarus Restoration Ministries, Inc.:
Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.

Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Read the descriptions of each of the transitional living locations for more detailed information. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.
