Class of Housing/Services: Emergency Shelter, Transitional Housing, Halfway Housing

General Information:
Shelter For those experiencing a homelessness crisis, the emergency shelter provides seven free nights each year to Manatee County residents. After the seventh night, $10 fee is charged.  Those utilizing the shelter for an overnight stay must present a valid identification card upon arrival.  Check-in begins at 6 pm and ends at 8 pm.  Fresh linens and shower access are provided. Sustainability Programs Many factors contribute to homelessness.  As housing prices rise, families and individuals with modest incomes find it challenging to secure safe, affordable housing in this community.  Unexpected medical expenses, divorce, sudden loss of job or income stream often leads to homelessness.  Case managed sustainability programs assist clients seeking economic stability.  Case managers evaluate each client’s strengths and weaknesses to link individuals to resources with the overall goal of financial security.  In addition, clients learn budgeting, the value of establishing and maintaining a savings account, as well as other life skills such as parenting.  Call 941-748-5110 to learn more about shelter sustainability programs. Pathway of Hope Developed by The Salvation Army to break the cycle of inter-generational poverty, the Pathway of Hope program helps shelter clients and those at risk of becoming homeless.  Click here to learn more about Pathway of Hope.
