General Information:
Carpenter's Shelter is one of the largest homeless shelters in Northern Virginia, serving approximately 270 children, women, and men experiencing homelessness each year in the residential shelter program. Our 60-bed facility is located just north of Old Town Alexandria, VA. Carpenter’s Shelter is more than just a roof. We work with clients to address and overcome barriers which led to their homelessness. Residents are offered comprehensive, goal-oriented case management including life skills and financial literacy education, mental health services, and employment assistance. The goal is to assist residents with transitioning to permanent, sustainable housing as quickly as possible. David's Place Day Shelter provides a place for the homeless to stay during the day. Emergency Homeless Shelters both provide short term relief for the homeless and low income persons. Usually there is a maximum stay of 3 months or less.
