The Pathways Center for families is a shelter program of Greensboro Urban Ministry. Our purpose is to provide homeless families a safe, temporary environment to live while they are searching for other housing. The Pathways Center shelters 16 families. Each family has a private studio living area. There is no fee to stay at the Pathways Center. Case managers work with families to help them move as quickly as possible back into permanent housing. Pathways Center for families is more than a temporary shelter for parents and their children. It is a place to plan, learn new skills, work with a case manager and share time with a devoted group of volunteers who want the 16 families living in the center to know that they are not alone in their journey back to stability. Eligibility Guidelines: Must be a resident of the Greater Greensboro area Must have income (employment, child support, disability, Work First, etc.) Must have children living with you at the Pathways Center Must have custody of all the children living with you at the Pathways Center

Emergency Assistance Greensboro Urban Ministry works to meet the needs of individuals and families in crisis in the greater Greensboro area, specifically residents of the city of Greensboro and Guilford County, with the exception of High Point (whose residents are served by several agencies located in the city of High Point). We provide the tools and support they need to become self-sufficient again. By assisting individuals and families at the onset of problems, homelessness can be prevented with minimal assistance. Types of help available: Through our Emergency Assistance Program (EAP), financial assistance is provided for costs necessary to maintain housing – utility, water, rent, and/or mortgage payments. Food assistance is also available. People applying for assistance need to bring their photo ID and Social Security number, as well as Social Security numbers for everyone in the household. This information is needed each time clients apply for service. How can people access help? No referrals are needed for food assistance. Food assistance is handled through Greensboro Urban Ministry’ 305 W. Gate City Blvd. location. Food assistance hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those who need to come after 4:30 p.m. should call 553-2659 or 553-2660 to make arrangements. Utility/water/rent or mortgage: Due to high demand for services, potential clients meet with an interviewer who reviews their situation. After being qualified, these individuals receive immediate assistance with past due bills to prevent eviction. No referrals are needed for financial assistance. Individuals in need of financial assistance should call 336.553.2657 to schedule an appointment. Financial interviews available: Mon- Fri 9:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. (Times and availability subject to change.)
