Class of Housing/Services: The Baltimore Station, an innovative therapeutic residential treatment program, turns lives around.

General Information:
South Baltimore Station provides recovery and up to 24 months of housing for homeless men with a history of chronic substance abuse. For more information contact South Baltimore Station or visit The Baltimore Station website. Our nationally recognized program incorporates three “traditional” programs under one roof: The first month is learning to “sit still” – to look inward and find the roots of addiction, long days in counseling on health issues, drug and alcohol education, and acupuncture treatment to assist with withdrawal symptoms. Months 2-6 focus on life skills – job readiness, budgeting, education and household responsibilities. Months 6-12 are a transition period, allowing residents to live with minimal supervision, go to school or work, apply life skills, save money, repair relationships, incorporate relapse-prevention strategies and mentor others. After 18 months in our program, most residents are living independently, gainfully employed and/or enrolled in college, holding jobs at Baltimore businesses, nonprofits, museums, hospitals and airports.
