Class of Housing/Services: Emergency Shelter

General Information:
The Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) is Inter-Faith’s emergency shelter program. IHN provides Montgomery County families with children experiencing homelessness with stays of up to 90 days. Inter-Faith Housing Alliance is a shelter partner with Your Way Home of Montgomery County. The shelter’s service delivery model is unique and cost-effective. “Host Congregations” serve our families for one month each year at their places of worship. Families eat and sleep at the congregations in classrooms converted to bedrooms, and congregational volunteers provide meals, overnight supervision, and transportation as needed. In the morning the families return to Inter-Faith Housing Alliance, where staff provides important case management and support services. While it works in partnership with community congregations, the program is non-denominational. The families that Inter-Faith serves in our shelter program meet the Federal guidelines for low- or very-low incomes. While they may be two-parent families, in reality most are single-parent, female-headed households with young children. If you are seeking shelter, please call Your Way Home at 1-877-656-6306.

As A General Note About ShelterListings.org Listings:
ShelterListings.org does our best to provide listings that are free of cost. Many of the homeless shelters and services are free of charge. Some do charge small fees. We always urge the users of our website to visit the websites of the providers listed, OR give them a phone call to find out complete details.

In furtherance; Halfway Houses, Transitional Housing, and Substance Abuse Treatment Centers for the most part charge a fee. Most of the substance abuse resources we provide are low cost, Medicaid or sliding scale fee. We provide as much information as possible on the website of these locations.

Rooming and Boarding Houses do charge fees. We list them where we find them. They are a nice low cost option for housing.
