The Interfaith Family Shelter Program provides up to 60 days of shelter for families with children. Congregations serve as hosts for the families on a rotating schedule. Family Shelter– Growing Home offers a 60-day shelter for families with children experiencing homelessness. Call our offices to check on availability, learn more about the program, and do a brief eligibility screening (children must be in full custody, or with parents 90% of the time). Contact our Family Support Specialist at 720-407-1965 to ask about openings. Rental/Mortgage and Utility Assistance – Call our offices for details about eligibility and availability. No walk-ins, please. Limited rental assistance is available for families participating in certain Growing Home programs, including Parents as Teachers and Incredible Years. Affordable Housing – Growing Home operates 16 one and two bedroom apartments that rent for $525 (1BR) and $625 (2BR) per month. Background and credit checks conducted on all applicants. Tenants are required to earn more than twice the amount of monthly rent in income to qualify. Call Growing Home for more information on how to apply, 303-426-0430. Transitional Housing – With four units of transitional housing, Growing Home has a two-year case management supported program for parents who are returning to school for higher education, including Associate’s or four-year degrees, and professional certificate programs. Rent is calculated according to income. Families can fill out a transitional housing application at Growing Home, which will be kept on file until an opening is available. There is no waiting list. We recommend that interested families call us every few months to check on the status of our program openings.

Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless
or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.
Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.
Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job
training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Read the descriptions of each
of the transitional living locations for more detailed information. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.Day Shelters supplement homeless and low-income people when the shelter their staying in only offers shelter on an overnight basis. Case management is often provided and sometimes there are laundry and shower facilities. Meals and basic hygiene may also be offered. Almost all day shelters provide their services free of charge. Any emergency or homeless shelter that allows clients to stay during the day is also classified under this category.
