Class of Housing/Services: Short Term Shelter For Men and other services.

General Information:
Emergency Services (food, shelter, clothing, etc.) Limited street parking usually available for donation drop off. Metered street parking is $1.60 an hour (8:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Monday – Saturday. 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Sunday). SmartPark on 1st and Davis is $1.60 an hour with a maximum of $8. Lobby may be closed for cleaning from 6:00 – 6:45 AM and 5:00 – 5:45 PM.   Shelter: Up to 120 men have short-term shelter with us each night. Clothing and showers are available to overnight guests. Overnight shelter available for men only, based on a nightly lottery system (held at 6 p.m. ; TB card required). From Nov-March, we open extra space for men to sleep on mats (lottery held at 8 p.m.). Also offer referrals to area agencies. Food: We serve hot, nutritious meals up to 700 a day, 365 days a year. Breakfast is served daily to everyone at 7:00 a.m. Dinner served daily to everyone at 6:00 p.m. Lunch is served Saturday and Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Restrooms: We provide safe, secure, 24-hour restrooms for men, women, and children. This restores dignity and allows us to reach people we may not otherwise meet. Mail Service: We provide a mailing address for over 1,000 homeless individuals—a vital service for anyone who needs an address for job applications, family correspondence and legal issues. Referrals: We refer our guests to treatment programs, medical providers, employment programs and transitional housing facilities to help get their needs met. Chapel: We invite our guests to hear the message of God’s love and healing in our daily chapel services and Bible studies, and church services on Sunday mornings. Guest Care Center: We connect people in need to area resources and provide fun activities through our Guest Care Center, open daily.

Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.

Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Read the descriptions of each of the transitional living locations for more detailed information. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.
