Class of Housing/Services: Transitional Housing for women and women with children who are victims of domestic violence.

General Information:
Referal line: (415) 449-1276. Dream House provides up to 12 months of transitional housing for women and women with children who have left domestic violence and abusive situations, are at risk of homelessness, and are unemployed and in need of retraining. As a Jewish home, it provides an ideal way for Jewish women and their children to reconnect to their holidays, heritage, and culture. Preference is given to families; however single women in transition who can benefit from the program have also come to Dream House. The mother of the family must be at least 18 years old. Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.
