General Information:
Emergency shelter for homeless men. Affordable housing for formally homeless Vets. Temporary shelter We provide temporary shelter to any man who finds himself in need of a place to stay. All you need is a photo ID, be sober, and be 18 years or older.      We do nightly check-in 365 nights a year at 6pm. sharp.      All guests are required to fill out a basic check-in form, pass a breathalyzer, take a nightly shower and do a nightly chore.      Guests are permitted to stay 7-15 nights (without employment) every 30 day's. Transitional Housing We offer a number of transition beds available for men who are working. We charge a nominal fee of $5 a night and we do require that you save 60% of your income for future housing needs. Day Resource Center Open Monday - Friday 9am - 12 Noon. Free showers, phone messages and calls, clothes bank. Affordable housing for veterans We offer studio and one bedroom apartments that are rented at an extremly affordable rate for formally homeless Veterans. If you would like to see if you qualify for our apartments and get on the waiting list please stop by Project Aware at 217 West Leroux between the hours of 9a and Noon and ask for an apartment rental application.

Helpful Definitions For Project Aware, Inc:
Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.

Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Read the descriptions of each of the transitional living locations for more detailed information. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.
