Class of Housing/Services: Homeless Youth Shelter

General Information:
Visionary Homes is a 24 hour basic center for youth - ages 17 and under. Serving the Inland Empire, we provide a safe place to sleep, as well as the opportunity for youth to come in and wash their clothes, shower, eat a hot meal, or for an education. YVYLA will provide meals, mental health services, and life/social skills training onsite in the shelter. Meals include breakfast, snacks, and dinner. A bag lunch will be provided to youth attending school where the school is not already providing the youth with a meal. Meal plans will be designed to offer healthy nutrition to youth. Mental health services will be provided by the LCSW and interns from Cal State San Bernardino: services include screening and assessment, individual, group, family, and case management with linkage and referral to community-based programs for physical and mental health services. Life/Social skills training will be provided by volunteers and the executive director onsite and includes money management, violence prevention, and gang intervention. Job skills training will be provided by YVYLA at The Print Center. Volunteers will provide outreach services to youth and education to area business regarding available services to youth. An estimated 15 volunteers will work together to provide at least 40 hours of volunteer time each week; however, only a portion of the volunteer’s pay will be used towards the grants non-federal matching requirements.
