General Information:
Emergency and Long Term Shelter for children. Shelter, Inc. provides community based, emergency and longer-term housing for children and adolescents who are abused, neglected, dependent or in need of supervision. Services: As soon as children and adolescents walk through our door, Shelter, Inc. staff members work to create a welcoming and safe environment to ease the pain of the current crisis. During their stay, we provide both the emotional and physical care these children need. - 24-hour emergency housing services, 365 days a year - 24-hour referral services, 365 days a year - Professional staff supervision, 24 hours a day - Transportation to the child's own school whenever possible - Individual, group and family counseling at each group home facility - Health screening for each child in our care by Shelter, Inc's nursing consultant - Physical examination for each child in our care - Clothing, prescription drugs, personal hygiene items and small allowance to children from indigent families - 30-day follow-up services for each child after placement is terminated to determine how each child is doing and whether or not the family is in need of further assistance
