Class of Housing/Services: Transitional Housing for men. Faith Based.

General Information:
House of Strength Transitional Housing. House of Strength is a 28 bed transitional facility for men only. No women. The home is located on the bus line and within walking distance to many high demand career occupations. The home is equipped with central heat and air, washing machine and dryer, 3 1/2 baths, full kitchen, workout room, and leisure room. Residents are responsible for the upkeep of the facility. Chores are assigned weekly and range from polishing furniture, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming the floors, cleaning out the refrigerator/freezer, to cutting the lawn and trimming the bushes. Chores are rotated on a monthly basis.  Residents are also required attend life skills classes that occur every Monday - Friday. These classes cover a wide arrange of topics from AA/NA meetings, parenting, Bible studies, financial management, anger management, to faith based approaches to overcoming life destroying addictions.

Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.

Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.
