Bolton Refuge House Provides a variety of services for victims of domestic violence and victims of sexual assault. Some of those services can be found here. The mission of Bolton Refuge House, Inc., is to offer safety, support, education and other services, skills or alternatives that will empower victims and enhance the safety and well-being of domestic violence and/or sexual assault survivors by specifically addressing their needs on an individual and community basis.
Emergency shelter is available for victims of domestic violence or sexual assault who do not feel safe in their own homes. Bolton Refuge House provides shelter for residents of Eau Claire, Chippewa, Jackson, Buffalo, and Trempeauleau Counties of West Central Wisconsin. Referrals are given to shelters that serve counties outside this area.
An advocate can help you break the silence, and take control over your own life. Advocates are on duty 24 hours a day, and can help you make a safety plan, access services with other agencies, and decide for yourself what options are right for you.
urvivors sometimes need extra time and extra help to meet their goals. Transitional housing is a program that allows survivors to work closely with support staff to identify barriers to self-sufficiency, and make a plan to overcome those barriers.

Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessnessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficience to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.
Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.
Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Read the descriptions of each of the transitional living locations for more detailed information. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.
