The Yankton Homeless Shelter is open to clients from 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM 7 days a week. The purpose of the Yankton Homeless Shelter is to offer temporary shelter to homeless individuals and families, in a hospitable atmosphere. The shelter serves as a community outreach to individuals or families in need, regardless of sex, race, or creed. The shelter was founded on the belief that everyone deserves a home. Services: - Temporary shelter for homeless men and families - 24 hour phone coverage - Food and laundry service provided while a resident at the shelter - Provides assistance for some financial and medical issues - Assists with housing, household items, and clothing - Provices referrals to other agencies - Provides a self-help library of books and tapes - Provices public transportation to residents for Department of Social Services and job services - Provides support and encouragement to redidents
