General Information:
Forgach House Domestic Crisis Shelter. Provides a 40 bed emergency shelter and 5 transitional beds for victims of domestic violence. Also provides food and services referrals. Provides telephone crisis intervention and shelter for women and their children who are victims of domestic violence. Includes advocacy, groups, parenting classes, and transportation to needed social and legal services. Length of stay: 45 days. Participants may be eligible for up to three months of transitional shelter. Also provides weekly groups for survivors of domestic violence who are not in shelter. Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses.
