WOMEN AND CHILDREN FIRST Provides shelter and a 24-hour crisis hot line for survivors of family violence. Residents are evaluated after 7 days and may stay in the shelter up to 45 days. They also help women and their children find long-term housing.

The transition is to help them be more self sufficience to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses.
