Class of Housing/Services: Transitional Housing

General Information:
Transitional 120 day/1 year shelter and permanent housing program for single/two parent families and pregnant women with children 18 years and younger. Program housed in an apartment complex providing bedding, linens, laundry facilities. Each family housed in their own unit. Residents are required to assist with daily chores, obey the 10:00pm curfew and other house rules. Drugs and alcohol are prohibited. Tuesday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm Closed for Lunch From 12:00pm - 1:00pm No Fees Charged Fees may apply for this Transitional Housing resource. You will need to speak with them to see if you qualify. 120 Day Program Our 120-day program is designed to provide assistance and support  to families trying to break the cycle of homelessness. We recognize that families need a solution and individualized case plan, not just free shelter and food. In the 120-day program, each family stays in a furnished two-bedroom apartment with no charge for rent and utilities. Residents are required to save a minimum of 50% of their income in a trust account and engage in our wraparound services; case management, therapy and employment services to ensure they develop the proper tools for a sustainable and independent future. We believe in offering our clients a hand-up and not a hand-out and clients must be agree to be focused, committed and engaged. One Year Program Upon successful completion of the 120 day program, clients may access our continuum of care. Our continuum of care includes one-year low-cost housing. All programs offer dignified, independent living coupled with supportive services -based on self-accountability - to ensure that clients transition from low-functioning dependency to sustainable, community contributors. Low-cost Permanent Housing Qualified clients that have completed the one year program and have become productive members of society can apply for our low income permanent housing apartments. This is to continue to help our clients become self sufficient community contributors.

Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.
