Office Hours: Monday-Thursday 9am-4pm Friday CLOSED The Lighthouse Foundation runs a food pantry, multiple transitional housing units for homeless individuals 18-21 and families, computer classes, inexpensive cars, and other such services. Their office is located on E Cruikshank Road between Old Route 8 N and Pittsburgh Road. Please contact them directly for more detailed program information on eligibility, availability and application procedures. Housing Options Transitional Housing The transitional housing units offer opportunities for individuals and families to achieve their goals of education, employment, parenting skills, job training, and ultimately obtain permanent housing. Residents are permitted to stay in our transitional housing program for up to 18 months as long as they are working towards their goals and complying with all program requirements. There are five transitional housing locations with multiple apartments at each location.   Interim Housing Safe Harbor is an interim housing facility jointly operated by The Lighthouse Foundation and Catholic Charities of Butler.  Safe Harbor provides temporary housing for up to 60 days while staff members work with the homeless individual or family to find appropriate stable housing. ​Johnny's Place - Sober Living Home Johnny's Place is a recovery-focused transitional housing option for men. The purpose of Johnny's Place is to provide a safe, drug-free environment where residents can focus on their recovery and work on their goals without being surrounded by the things that led to or kept them in addiction.

Helpful Definitions For The Lighthouse Foundation:
Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.

Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Read the descriptions of each of the transitional living locations for more detailed information. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.
